Qandeel is a Quran player for Android phones and Wear OS watches. This policy covers both apps.
What Qandeel collects
Nothing. Qandeel has no account, no analytics, no advertising and no crash-reporting SDK, and it sends no data about you to its developer or to anyone else.
What stays on your device
- Settings (text size, recitation mode, Bangla voice, theme, and so on) and listening progress (which ayahs you have heard and for how long) are stored only on your device. If you use Android’s backup, they are included in your own Google backup, which Qandeel cannot read.
- Downloaded audio is stored in the app’s private storage and is never backed up.
- Phone and watch: when you use both apps, they exchange your settings, listening progress and download requests directly over Google Play services’ Wearable Data Layer. Nothing passes through a server of ours.
Network requests
Qandeel streams and downloads recitation audio directly from these hosts:
cdn.islamic.network(Alafasy’s Arabic and the English translation audio)everyayah.com(Abdul Basit and As-Sudais)huggingface.co(the verse-by-verse Bangla translation audio)
Like any website, these hosts can see your IP address and which audio file was requested. Their own privacy policies apply to those requests. The Quran text, translations, word meanings and word timings are bundled in the app and need no network.
Permissions
- Internet and network state: to stream and download audio.
- Notifications: for the playback controls and download progress.
- Foreground services (media playback, data sync): to keep playing with the screen off and to finish downloads in the background.
- Change network state (watch only): to ask for Wi-Fi while surahs download.
Children
Qandeel collects no data from anyone, children included.
Changes
Changes to this policy will be published at this address with a new date.
